NCAAP Scholarships
Each year the NAACP, through generous donations, is able to provide scholarships to outstanding students.
It is the duty of our dedicated Scholarship Committee to determine the most outstanding individuals to receive these awards. The NAACP does not provide financial aid to individuals, only scholarships through this process. To apply for NAACP Agnes Jones Jackson Scholarship, Hubertus W. V. ACT-SO
(Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological & Scientific Olympics)
ACT-SO provides a forum through which youth of African descent demonstrate academic, artistic and scientific prowess and expertise, thereby gaining the same recognition often only reserved for entertainers and athletes.
ACT-SO is a year-long youth achievement program that begins in August of each year in local communities nationwide.
In more than 200 local communities throughout the U.S., ACT-SO adult volunteers recruit students and mentors. Students work with mentors from August to April to develop their projects and performances for the local competition. They compete in 25 categories including Sciences, Business, Humanities, Performing Arts and Visual Arts,

PTSA Music Scholarship
Open to Secondary & High School Students in the 10th District / PTSA area
compete on standard orchestra instruments, piano & voice.
Amount: private music lessons – $200

Information about this program will be mailed to all secondary schools in early February. The school music teacher or principal recommends musically talented students or those who show unusual promise to audition for our scholarships. The auditions will be held in mid-March or early April.
The Tenth District PTSA Music Scholarship Program first began in 1939. Over the past 75 years, hundreds of students have received PTSA scholarships for private music lessons. Just this past year, Tenth District was able to award thirty-five (35) music scholarships of $200 each to deserving and talented secondary students.

Pageant of The Arts: Local and district music competitions for high school students.
Rotary’s Pageant of the Arts provides high school students the opportunity to display their talents and compete with other students for recognition and monetary prizes. Students gain valuable experience as well as exposure to University Deans and professors.
The Pageant of the Arts is a combination of four competitions for high school students in the areas of art, dance, music, and speech. The competitions are held simultaneously in a building complex at Loyola Marymount University which includes an art exhibit space, a music auditorium, a dance studio and an adjacent building for the speech contest. Individuals and teams compete for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place and Honorable Mention in each contest.

Young Musicians Foundation
The David Weiss Scholarship Program has granted multiple awards to talented young musicians in high school and college for the past 57 years. As private music instruction continues to become more and more expensive, YMF is one of the few places to which talented young musicians can apply for financial assistance
Applicants must demonstrate exceptional talent and financial need
under 18 years of age – instrumentalist not beyond 11th grade.

GRAMMY Camp will plan to be IN-PERSON this coming summer, 2022. If for some reason we need to comply with COVID19 issues, Camp will go back to a virtual format again.
GRAMMY Camp is a 5-day nonresidential summer music industry program for high school students interested in having a career in music. Students from across the country apply for one of the eight offered career tracks. GRAMMY Camp faculty of music professionals as well as guest industry professionals provide valuable insight to give the campers the best chance at achieving success in their chosen career. Financial assistance is available for students who need it.
The GRAMMY Camp Application is a two-step process: 1.) Fill out the initial application (contact information, school information, career track choice, etc.) 2.) Submit your audition materials. Once you submit the initial application, you will receive a confirmation email that directs you to fill out the audition materials form. Here you will include your video essay, and career track requirements. You can also find this form once you fill out the initial application on your Dashboard in CampMinder under the “Forms” tab.
National Young Arts Foundation
YoungArts’ signature program is an application-based award for emerging artists ages 15–18 or in grades 10–12 from across the United States. Selected through a blind adjudication process conducted by an independent panel of highly accomplished artists, YoungArts winners receive valuable support, including financial awards of up to $10,000, professional development and educational experiences working with renowned mentors, and performance and exhibition opportunities at some of the nation’s leading cultural institutions.

The Alkebulan Youth Summer Arts Camp is a multi-disciplined immersive arts experience for youth ages 10-14. Committed to preserving and perpetuating the jazz tradition.
Pending an approval by Health Department authorities, JazzAmerica will reconvene for rehearsals beginning in January, 2022, at the Musicians Union, 3220 Winona Ave., Burbank 91504.
Students of jazz – ages 12 to 20 – who can read and commit to regular Saturday rehearsals (typically 10:00am to 12:30pm) are invited to prepare a 2-minute ‘E-audition’: play a Standard tune and a one-chorus solo, and play a Blues and a one-chorus solo. Send the file(s) to: UFOBASS@aol.com
